Hack Attack
Dial Settings & Speeds
Complete dial charts for all four Hack Attack machines — baseball and softball, Junior and full size. Every pitch, every speed, in the left / bottom / right order the dials are labeled. Bookmark it, or print it and tape it inside the cage.
How the Three Dials Work
Every Hack Attack has three independent wheel speed dials. Once you understand what each one does, you can dial in any pitch without hunting through a chart.
Left & Right Together
When the left and right dials read the same, the ball comes in straight. Raise both to add speed.
Left vs Right Offset
Offsetting them creates lateral break. Faster right wheel gives you a right-handed curve or slider; flip the two numbers for the left-handed version.
The Bottom Dial
Controls vertical spin. Higher than the other two produces backspin and carry; lower produces sink and split-finger action.
Junior Hack Attack — Baseball Dial Settings
Speeds from 30 to 70 MPH. At 45 feet, a 70 MPH fastball simulates roughly 90+ MPH game timing.

Dialing It In
- Treat the charts as starting points. Verify with a radar reading and adjust from the nearest row — small differences between machines are normal.
- Ball type changes everything. A worn leather ball, a wet ball, and a machine-specific ball will each read differently at identical dial settings.
- Use dedicated machine balls. Machine wheels wear out the seams on full-grain leather over time. TaterBalls are built for repeated feeds and keep your game balls off the wheels.
- Change one dial at a time. Moving two at once makes it impossible to tell which change caused what.
- Write down what works. Once you find the setting your hitters need, log it — it saves five minutes at the start of every practice.
Dial Settings FAQ
What do the three dial numbers mean?
Each Hack Attack has three independent wheel speed dials — left, bottom, and right. The charts list them in that order. Setting all three to produce equal left and right values with a higher bottom value creates backspin (a fastball). Offsetting the left and right dials creates lateral break, and lowering the bottom dial relative to the others creates sink.
What are the dial settings for a Junior Hack Attack fastball?
For the Junior Hack Attack baseball, a 70 MPH fastball is left 7.5, bottom 10, right 7.5. The slowest fastball setting is left 3, bottom 5.5, right 3, which produces 30 MPH. Full range is 30 to 70 MPH in 5 MPH steps.
What are the dial settings for a Hack Attack fastball?
For the full-size Hack Attack baseball, a 90 MPH fastball is left 7, bottom 10, right 7. The slowest fastball setting is left 1.75, bottom 5.5, right 1.75, which produces 40 MPH.
How do I make the machine throw a curveball?
Offset the left and right dials. On a Junior Hack Attack, a 50 MPH right-handed curve is left 5, bottom 3, right 10 — the right wheel spinning much faster than the left creates the break. Reverse those two numbers for a left-handed curve.
Why is my machine throwing slower than the chart says?
The charts are starting points, not guarantees. Ball type and condition are the biggest variables — worn leather balls, wet balls, and different ball models all read differently than the ball the chart was set with. Verify with a radar reading and fine-tune the dials from the nearest chart row.
Can the Junior Hack Attack throw sliders and knuckleballs?
Yes. The Junior throws fastballs, right- and left-handed curves, right- and left-handed sliders, split-fingers, and knuckleballs. Sliders and knuckleballs run 40 to 60 MPH, and the full settings for each are in the charts above.
